The Herd family...
_
We are a God fearing, animal loving family! We have a son in the Army, one in college in KY (our oldest boys - whom we adore - missed this family picture), a daughter in north Missouri who's blessed us with some beautiful grand-babies. We have an 19 yr old daughter in Colorado and the other five still live here at home with us. Ages range from 6-25 so life is eternally interesting. I'm glad I can always count on a sweet furry friend to 'love on' during my 'oh so few' quite moments. We've been raising Papillons since 2004 and feel we'll always have more to learn. My goal is to start 'showing' when I have a few less children's activities to chauffeur. I love talking about (and to) my dogs - they are soo sweet and smart! What's not to love? I have to say raising Papillons is more of an expensive hobby than a job but, they bring us so many smiles and experiences... we're so happy to share them with you!

How we got started...
_This is Teddy. One of my very first Papillons. I was so surprised when one of the kids came in to tell me there was a puppy in the pen. I said, 'No honey, they are just really small dogs.' Well, he insisted he heard 'squeaking', so we 'discovered' "JOEY" our very first puppy born here. My 3 year old, then came in declaring it was a mouse in there with Teddy - it was a fun and exciting day. I got Teddy and a couple of other dogs from a breeder that offered me a 'starter set'. I wasn't sure what I was getting into, but loved the Papillon breed and had done lots and lots of reading. Teddy was probably over-bred when I got her, so only had one puppy for me. We loved her and her puppy very much and were very sad when she passed away a few years later. Joey (now Taz) is living with Kate in Florida - they're going to college right now. They still let me know how things are going... as Joey will always be special to us!
